Football: Williams back to boost Llandudno FC

LLANDUDNO have been given a major boost ahead of their weekend visit to Huws Gray Alliance leaders Cefn Druids.

Midfielder Ryan Williams, who has been out of action for eight weeks with a knee injury, has returned to training and will be included in the squad for the trip to The Rock.

Williams joined the Seasiders on loan this season and was in fantastic form, scoring in three successive games, before breaking down in a match at Rhos Aelwyd in October.

"Having Ryan back will be a massive plus," said Tudno assistant manager Grant Montgomery.

"He’s been training well and will travel with us to Druids. It’s unlikely that he’ll start but we hope he’ll be involved at some stage.

"Since joining us Ryan’s brought something new to the side. Losing Gareth Evans to Colwyn Bay was obviously a blow, but Ryan’s come in and given the midfield the sort of enthusiasm and energy we need."

There is also good news regarding skipper and inspirational central defender Craig Hogg, who has been out all season through injury.

"He’s had two light training sessions and is progressing well," reported Montgomery.

"We want to do everything right with Craig as he’s such an important player for us, but we hope to see him back some time in December."

Currently seventh in the table, Llandudno will probably be regarded second favourites for the Druids game, but the Seasiders are often at their most dangerous when the odds are stacked against them.

Although they have lost at title contenders Gap Connah’s Quay and Rhyl this season, Tudno performed well and could have got something out of both games.

"The better the opposition the more it seems to bring out the best in us," added Montgomery.

"The big thing of course, is if the game gets played because of the weather, but we’re looking forward to visit Druids’ new ground. We’ve heard it’s a good pitch which will suit us as we like to play football.

"We had a practice game on a 3G pitch on Saturday so we’re quite well prepared."

Llandudno will be without defender Paul Roberts, who is on honeymoon, and centre- back Wyn Williams, who is attending a wedding on Saturday.

But central defender Tim Brandreth is ready for a return.

"Druids are a big strong unit and well- drilled, a difficult team to play against," said the assistant boss.

"But we know how well we can play and will travel there confident of giving a good account of ourselves."
