LLANDUDNO JUNCTION 1 LLANFAIRPWLL 1
AFTER falling behind to an early goal Junction fought back to earn a point which on the balance of play should have been all three.
Saturday’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One encounter at the Flyover Ground saw the visiting Anglesey side enjoy a great start when on four minutes Ian Burgess’ header hit the post and Arwyn Owen bundled home the rebound.
The Railwaymen rallied and a free- kick from the edge of the box by Iain Bennett was destined for the bottom corner but Llanfair glovesman Ben Heald saved well.
Junction’s equaliser after 24 minutes had more than an element of fortune about it as Heald’s kick out hit Tom Patel on the back and the ball fell to Jack Higgins who shot into an empty net.
Higgins almost made it 2-1 before the interval but his solo run ended with a shot that flew just wide.
In the second half Junction were the better side but were unable to make opportunities count.
Joey Jennings found space in the centre of the park and released Higgins through on goal but the striker could only find the side-netting.
Patel from the left played the ball into Shaun Williams whose centre across the face of goal came to Jordan Naylor who fired against the post.
Williams then found Higgins whose shot on the turn was smartly stopped by Heald diving to his right.
Joel Hewitt crossed from the right, Patel headed across goal and Tom Roberts’ flick was thwarted on the goal-line by the busy Heald.
Higgins’ free-kick flew just over while for Llanfair striker Richard Owen headed against the bar and Arwyn Owen found the net, but it was ruled the ball had gone out of play in the build-up.
GLAN CONWY 2 LLANBERIS 0
IN a fairly even game at Cae Ffwt the only difference between the teams was Glan striker Ashley Smith who in his first start of the season netted the vital goals on 32 and 89 minutes.
Glan keeper Aaron Peel made a fine point blank save early on, before Mally Tidswell’s 25-yard effort was tipped over by Beris manager Euron Davies, who was forced to deputise between the sticks.
Richard Orme had a second half penalty well saved, before the prolific Smith was denied by the keeper.
This Saturday Glan Conwy are away to neighbours Llandudno Junction in a league match while Glan reserves host Denbigh Town, both kick-offs 2pm.
