Football: Llandudno FC target new signings

WITH the January transfer window opening today (Thursday), Llandudno are hoping to complete a couple of signings to strengthen their squad.

"We’re hoping to tie up a couple of new signings this week once their transfers have been cleared by their present club," reported joint manager Grant Montgomery.

The club will also have Ben Dews eligible again from today and hope to have midfielder Joe Morgan fit to return for Saturday’s home game against Lex XI following an ankle injury.

Alun Roberts, however, is probably another week away, while Lee Thomas and Jason Sadler will both miss the game through suspension.

Llandudno were left frustrated last Saturday after travelling to Flint only for the match referee to call the game off just an hour before the kick-off because of frost in one of the goalmouths.

"Both teams were there and wanted to play, but the referee wasn’t happy with the one area of the pitch – and in the end he has the final say," reported Grant.

Llandudno go into Saturday’s game in seventh place in the table, four points ahead of Lex, who have two games in hand.

Llangefni are new league leaders after their 1-0 win at title rivals Holyhead Hotspur.

They are two points ahead of Bala Town, but have played a game more, and are five ahead of third-placed Holyhead who have two games in hand.
