Football: Llanrwst United FC boss on cloud nine

LLANRWST UNITED boss Chris Williams rates his side’s 9-1 demolition of Manager of the Month Brian Harvey’s Barmouth and Dyffryn United last Saturday as one of the best team performances for a long time.

Harvey received the award for being unbeaten during October, but his side were taken apart at Gwydir Park with Bryn Jenkins scoring four of the goals.

"After they had equalised an early goal with a penalty, we totally destroyed them," said Williams. "We played some tremendous football at times and could have scored more.

"We’ve not been firing on all cylinders lately and I asked all the players to up their work rate, and they certainly responded. That was the best team performance we have produced for a long time - it was lovely to be able to just sit back for a change and enjoy it. "

Llanrwst were 4-1 up by half-time and Jenkins then completed a second half hat-trick as the side added five more goals after the break.

Llanrwst have the chance to be among the goals again this weekend with a rearranged league game at struggling Nantlle Vale.

They were beaten 6-1 at home by CONWY UNITED last weekend with a hat-trick from Bryn Phillips helping the Musselmen continue their recent good run which has seen them win five games in row – scoring 17 goals in the process.

Jamie Jones, Chris Quinn and Ryan Watson were their other scorers last Saturday, when Conwy led 3-0 at half-time.

But they face a big test this Saturday at fourth-placed Pwllheli in Cookson Cup.

Pwllheli beat league leaders Rhyl Reserves 3-1 last weekend and have won six of their seven league games so far – although they did suffer a surprise home defeat to Abergele in the Barritt Cup two weeks ago.
