Football: Big month for goal hungry Glan Conwy FC

GLAN CONWY are averaging over five goals a game so far this season after continuing their goal feast with a 7-0 win over Nefyn United in the Cookson Cup.

That takes their tally past the 50 mark in just 10 cup and leagues games.

And manager Paul Moroney will be keen that there is no easing off as the team return to league action this Saturday at home to Llanllyfni.

That kicks off a busy November for the Cae Ffwt side who are away to leaders Rhyl next Wednesday and have other league games at home to top seven sides Rhydymwyn and Llanrug United, plus a Barritt Cup tie at Nefyn and a long trip to Presteigne St Andrews in the last 16 of the FAW Welsh Trophy on November 22.

Aled Stapleton, who scored a hat-trick the previous weekend, added two more goals last Saturday as Glan Conwy led 3-0 at half-time against a Nefyn side who had been beaten only once in six league games.

Ashley Smith, Dwyfor Williams, Gareth Davies and Joe Williams were also scorers along with an own goal.

Manager Paul Moroney said he and the players were dedicating the victory to Ceri Leater, who worked in the club cafe and was the wife of former manager Steve Leater, and who sadly passed away last week.
