COLWYN BAY manager Steve Pope hopes to field  near enough to his best eleven for the friendly game against Unibond Premier Division side Hednesford Town (3pm)  at Llanelian Road on Saturday (August 2).

Robbie Williams is set to return in midfield along side newly signed Steve Aspinall, after being rested for the midweek win over Llandudno, while Rob Hopley and Dean Canning will start up front.

Although there could be a couple of  trialists, changes will  be kept to a minimum.

"We trained very hard on Thursday and I'll have to check if any players have had a reaction to that before deciding on the line-up, but I will be looking to give the starting line-up a good 75 or 80 minutes together as we build towards the league kick-off on August 16," he said.

" I want to see an improvement on the last two games," added the manager.

"The players set a standard and showed what they can do  against Tranmere  and we've got to start producing that week in week out. It is inevitable individual players will be below  par somtimes, but I still expect them to  give me a 6 out of 10 performance. A 4 or 5  just won't be acceptable."

Hednesford, who finished eight in the Premier Division last season, have made a number of new signings in the summer, including striker Louis Briscoe who scored 19 goals for Leek Town last year.

They are unbeaten in their last four pre-season games, which has included  an impressive  4-0 win over a Stoke City X1.

A report on the Hednesford game, and news of  Llandudno's home match against Manchester side Hollinswood (2.30), will apear on Tim Channon's sporting scene blog on Saturday evening.
