Cricket: Llanrwst relegated after defeat

LLANRWST are relegated from the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division following Saturday’s 113-run defeat at the hands of Mochdre.

Matt Wouldes posted 57, debutant Matthew Humphreys made 49 not out and Will Evans added 40 as Mochdre set 245-7 declared from 50 overs and the Rwsters were bowled out for 132, Adam Campion 4-38.

Aled Williams starred with an unbeaten 150 as runaway champions Llandudno amassed 334-5 declared at Mold, Gordon Kerr adding an outstanding 91.

Mold were then skittled out for a paltry 63, Luke Regan 3-2 for the Seasiders.

St Asaph halted a run of poor results by beating in-form Connah’s Quay at Elwy Park Grove.

William Ryan hit 47 and Joe Clayton 46 not out in Asaph’s total of 199-8 and Chris Campbell then picked up 3-23 and Andy Bellis 3-41 as Quay perished for 139.

Conwy’s promotion hopes ended with defeat at Gresford in Division One.

The Colliers piled up 250-6, Matthew Cree 115 not out and Shaun Davies 3-63, and the Musselmen’s reply ended on 195, Anthony Davies hitting a spirited 86.

Llandudno seconds drew at home to Pwllheli, but the visitors were celebrating after clinching promotion.

Owen Jones struck 61, Martin Bean 42 and Chris Hardy 36 in Tudno’s effort of 187 all out and in response Pwllheli mustered 163-8, Andrew Christian 3-38.

Abergele enjoyed a six-wicket success at Anglesey Aluminium in Division Two, 131-4 bettering 130 all out. Amer Jamil picked up 4-26 for Gele and Tony Ward hit 36.

Adam El-Lamie’s 4-53 and John Winning’s 43 was not enough to save relegation-threatened St Asaph seconds from a 74-run loss at Bangor seconds.

Llanrwst seconds have long been relegated from Division Three, but they had cause for cheer after winning at Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds.

Huw Williams scooped 3-28 as Marchwiel were dismissed for 120 and the Rwsters hit back with 122-6, Williams completing a man of the match display with 55.

Ross Stevens followed up his 132 not out of the previous week by scoring an even better 136 in Mochdre seconds’ 10-0 walloping of Gresford seconds in Division One.

Promotion-chasing Mochdre racked up 266-7 and Alastair Paterson claimed 4-36 and Rob Stewart 3-40 as the visitors were limited to 157-9.

Eric Shillcock hit 71 and James Wilkinson 62 in Conwy seconds’ 219-5 against Corus Colors, who were then sent packing for 159, Hugh Kelly 3-30.

Mochdre thirds pipped Pwllheli seconds by one run in a dramatic game at Bodegroes.

In a match reduced to 33 overs per side, John Parry hit 60 not out in Mochdre’s 130-7 and Pwllheli suffered a run out off the last delivery to finish 129-9, Martin Roberts 4-24.
