MOCHDRE bounced back from a disappointing loss on Saturday by turning over St Asaph on Monday, a vital win which edged Adam Campion’s side away from the North Wales League Premier Division’s relegation spots.
Opting to bat first, Mochdre were all out for 164 in 46.2 overs, opener Will Evans leading the way with 53, Campion posting 29 and Joe Chaplin 24, David North snapping up 4-51 for Saints and spinner Paul Fleming 3-33.
Campion then grabbed 5-31, Chaplin 2-4 and Russ Boswell 2-15 as Asaph were dismissed for just 84, Adam El-Lamie 23.
It was a different story on Monday with Mochdre bowled out for just 110 at Menai Bridge with Will Evans, who rattled up a Premier Division record 216 not out the weekend before, perishing for a single.
Only veteran Gareth Davies (41) saved the visitors from total embarrassment, then Menai skipped to 111-2.
DUNCAN MIDGLEY celebrated becoming a title-winning captain in his first season at the helm by scoring his maiden league century of the summer in Llandudno’s predictable beating of bottom side Llanrwst on Monday.
The Rwsters batted well to set 208-5, Ryan Heywood 83 not out, Nathan Jones 58, Gordon Kerr scooping 4-48 for the seasiders.
But no target is too stiff for this Tudno side who reached 214-2 in 40.1 overs, Midgley cracking 104 not out to boost his season’s league tally to 841 runs, while Steve Smith hit 85.
On Saturday, Llanrwst could only score 104 all out (Nathan Jones 29) against Brymbo, who hit back with 107-3.
ST ASAPH lost by 65 runs at home to Bangor on Saturday.
The visitors recorded 195-9 declared, North 2-23, and Saints, whose Aussie opener Trevor Bauer was again out for a duck, crumbled to 130 all out, Gareth Jones 39, North 30no.
CONWY encountered a mixed weekend in their bid for promotion from Division One.
Ioan Williams took a remarkable 8-32 off 12 overs in Saturday’s 30-run win over Northop which saw the Musselmen score a moderate 146 but then send the Flintshiremen packing for 116.
Monday’s derby against Llandudno seconds only brought misery for Conwy, who after being put into bat came up with a vulnerable total of 139, Shaun Davies 42 and number 11 John Brummer slamming 35 not out including three fours and three sixes.
Luke Regan collected 5-41 for the seasiders with Chris Hardy adding 3-37 and Jordan Kane 2-23.
Tudno replied with 142-3, Kane 54 not out and Owen Jones 47 to complete the double over their neighbours.
It was a fine weekend for Llandudno as they also hammered Halkyn on Saturday. Andrew Christian snared 6-33 and Matthew Lambe 2-8 as the visitors were blitzed out for a mere 77 and the hosts needed just 14.3 overs to reach 80-1, Martin Bean 51 not out.
