Cricket: Davies hits a century as Conwy win

SHAUN DAVIES hit a cracking ton as CONWY continued their fantastic start to the season in North Wales Cricket League Division One with a superb four-wicket success at home to Northop.

Winning the toss, the home side elected to field first. Northop made good use of the hard wicket and fast outfield to make a good start, but the game changed when the spinners came on.

With the run rate pegged back, the Flintshiremen were forced to use all the overs at their disposal to post a target of 225-5, Daniel Wilson 2-40.

Conwy were in confident mood with the bat and attacked from the first over.

Davies (109) carried the innings with his second century for the club, his controlled, chanceless knock one of the best seen at Bodlondeb for a long time.

He was once again well supported by Ed Favill (41) and later skipper David Wilkinson (18) as Conwy reached 226- 6 for a 25-2 points haul.
