A FOUR-wicket haul from Mochdre’s Gareth Goodson saw his side claim a seven wicket success at Llanrwst in the Premier Division to move up to third in the table and stay in contention for the title.
Goodson finished with figures of 4-12 in seven overs, sending back two of the Rwst batsmen without scoring, as the home side were bowled all out for 62 in just 35 overs.
Gareth Davies was also on song with the ball, claiming three wickets for the concession of just a single run from three overs, while Russ Boswell collected 3-22 in 15 overs.
Of the Llanrwst batsmen only opener Tarique Khan reached double figures with a knock of 10, while the highest score of the innings came from the 14 extras gifted by the Llandudno bowlers.
Mochdre then raced to 63-3 in 15.2 overs with opener and wicket-keeper Will Evans putting on 42, while Khan took 2-30 and Tomos Slattery – with the wicket of Evans – claimed 1-9 in 2.2 overs.
Mochdre seconds had an equally convincing win in Division Four, again centred around an impressive bowling display.
Rob Stewart took 8-6 in 8.3 overs as Bodedern were hammered out of sight and finished on 45 all out in 16.3 overs. Ahmir Sardir took 2-35 in eight overs, but crucially sent back Bod openers James Hamilton and James Jones for just two runs between them. Gareth Jones was the islanders and indeed the game’s top scorer on 24, as Mochdre themselves struggled with the bat.
However, after earning such a low target Mochdre were never in any real danger and finished on 48-4 in just 8.2 overs with opener Steve Jones making 13 and Peter Williams finishing unbeaten on 18.
Bottom side Llanrwst seconds fell agonisingly just 19 runs short of a victory in Division Three at Bala.
After inserting Bala on their own track, Rwst then had the home side all out in 44 overs for just 93 with Anthony Williams claiming four wickets.
After a poor start Bala were grateful to a sixth wicket stand of 45 from Elfyn Griffiths and Iolo Jones to see them to a total.
Llanrwst got off to a good start and reached 35 without loss, but wickets then began to fall at regular intervals and they could only manage 74 before being bowled all out in 44 overs as Joe Evans finished with 4-13.
