COLWYN BAY’S recent improved form faces a big test on Saturday when they travel to third-in-the-table New Brighton on the back of a third successive victory last weekend in the Liverpool Cricket Competition.
Skipper Paul Jenkins set up their eight-wicket win over Maghull with some outstanding spin bowling. After winning the toss and putting the opposition in, he helped bowl them out for 146 in 45.4 overs with impressive figures of 13-7-26-5.
Debasis Mohanty (17- 4-44-3) and Patrick Leach (7-1-18-1) were the other wicket-takers.
Suwanji Madanayake top scored with 48 for Maghull before being caught at the wicket by Graham Jones off Jenkins following a fourth wicket stand of 34 with Ian Pumbley (23).
Colwyn Bay’s reply got the perfect start with Charlie Clubb scoring 61 not out and Patrick Leach 45 and putting on an opening stand of 91 as Colwyn Bay cruised to victory at 149 for 2 in just 25.1 overs.
Sion Morris scored 25 in a second wicket stand of 49 with Clubb.
