Cricket: First century for Conwy’s Natalie

CONWY cricketer Natalie Heap, who also plays in the Cheshire Women’s League with Hawarden Park this season to help her progress in the women’s game, has just celebrated her first century – and been selected for the Cheshire County women’s team.

She scored 100 retired, batting at number three, in a Cheshire League match last weekend.

She has also played in five 20 over games for Hawarden Park, scoring 91 runs and being not out on four occasions.

The 18-year-old from Llysfaen, who also plays for Conwy 2nds in the North Wales Cricket League and for Conwy Celts in the Colwyn Bay and District Evening League, has now been selected to play for Cheshire in the English National County League tournament at Taunton in Somerset where Cheshire will play against Derbyshire, Middlesex and Yorkshire.

Last season Natalie took some key wickets to help Conwy 2nds become Division Five champions in the North Wales League, including four wickets for eight runs off seven overs in a nine-wicket the win over Halkyn 2nds.

She has also played for Colwyn Bay 3rds and helps coach the club’s junior teams.
