Your Champions: Conwy Valley beekeeper buzzing at nomination

A CONWY Valley beekeeper gets a buzz not only from his bees and their honey, but is the brains behind a number of local tourism events which bring visitors in their droves to the area each year.

Peter McFadden from Rowen has been nominated for a Your Champion Person award because of his contributions to Rowen and the wider community of Conwy and the Conwy Valley.

For many years Peter has organised and run the hugely popular Rowen Open Gardens Day, which this year attracted thousands of visitors to over 20 private gardens generating over £6,000 towards the Rowen Memorial Hall, school and chapel. He is also the treasurer for the Memorial Hall.

Peter organises the widely successful Conwy Honey Fair and Seed Fair, which bring in thousands of visitors, helping to support bees and the ancient art of beekeeping locally.

Peter has been the secretary of Conwy’s Beekeepers’ Association for the past 20 years, and was the brains behind the renowned Conwy Feast festival.
