Llanfairfechan couple finally tie the knot after flood chaos

A BRIDE who had her wedding plans ruined when floods swept through her home has finally tied the knot.

Liane Pattinson, 23, from Llanfairfechan married Mike Snee, 25, on Saturday. The couple tied the knot at Christchurch in the quarry village in a traditional ceremony that lasted 40 minutes.

As the sun shone, over 100 friends and family joined the couple for their big day. Liane wore a traditional wedding dress and was accompanied by three bridesmaids and two young flower girls.

Also at the wedding was the Penrhyn Male Voice Choir, fresh from a performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

“One of the singers is a very good friend of the family. It gives impact, it gives something different,” said Liane.

The young couple plan a well deserved honeymoon in Cuba, a location chosen by husband Mike.

But before that the couple will travel to York as they still need to buy possessions damaged in the storms.

The newlyweds will be starting their married life together in their parents’ attic while their basement flat continues to dry out from the floods last March.

“At first it bothered me living in the attic. Now it’s absolutely fine. It’s a decent size, we’re not stepping on each other’s toes,” said Liane.

“My mum and dad have been brilliant. We are a very close family and Mike is part of that now.”

Liane had her wedding dress ruined and lost bridesmaids’ dresses and wedding invitations in the storms, which lashed the North Wales coastline

With only 10 weeks until her big day, Liane came home from work to find everything destroyed.

Sea water and sewage damaged a list of things so long it had filled three pages. Countless personal possessions and electrical equipment were among the items destroyed in the storm.

“It was horrendous, all my things were floating everywhere, and there were firemen everywhere,” said Liane.

“I’m glad that everything’s back on track now. We’re looking forward to the future and want to put the whole thing behind us.”
