Deganwy woman to run London marathon in memory of dad

A YOUNG woman from Deganwy will be running the London Marathon in memory of her father who ran it a decade ago.

Former Ysgol y Creuddyn pupil Caitlin Goosey tragically lost her father Neil in 1999, the same year he had completed the London Marathon.

Caitlin, who grew up in Deganwy and whose mother Sally still lives in Warren Drive, will be running for the charity Lattitude. The charity is a volunteering project run all over the world for young people.

Caitlin, now a TV production assistant based in London, has herself worked for the charity. The 25-year-old said: “I volunteered for them in South Africa five years ago and had the most incredible experience working in a school.

“I’d recommend the experience for anyone so that’s why I’m supporting Lattitude. Also running the marathon this year is quite significant for me as my dad ran it 10 years ago but sadly passed away the same year from epilepsy.

“I’m also hoping to raise some money for an epilepsy charity, I will be thinking of my dad lots during the marathon. He was a very fit person and I’ll probably achieve a much slower time than him!”

“I’ve never done a marathon before and it will be daunting as I’ll be by myself but I’m just going to go for it.”
