Work nears completion at Pen y Clip cycle path

ONGOING work on the Pen y Clip cycle path are continuing to cause misery for commuters and residents in Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan.

Bus passengers’ journeys through the quarry villages have lengthened in the evenings, with buses from Dwygyfylchi going towards Bangor doubling back on themselves due to road closures in Penmaenmawr. Lane closures on the A55 itself are compounding problems while night works continue until January 19.

However there is light, and indeed a path, at the end of the tunnel with completion set to be imminent.

A Welsh Assembly Government spokesperson said: "The Pen Y Clip cycle path is expected to be opened by the end of February with all contraflow systems removed. However, there may still be limited lane closures required to facilitate any outstanding minor works."

Parts of the bridge were being hoisted by crane into place this week.
