North Wales man was crushed to death on oil rig

Ioan Kenrick

An oil rig worker was crushed to death when an overhead load pushed him against railings.

Ioan Gwynne Kenrick, 44, of Glan Conwy was working on a barge beside a rig in Penang, Malaysia last August, when the incident happened.

The married father of two died from a ruptured liver, acting coroner John Gittins heard, at an inquest in Llandudno.

Mr Kenrick's father, Dr Arthur Kenrick said he believed no blame lay with his son's employers.

He returned a verdict of accidental death.
