A STAR student has won a place on a course offered by Oxford University to aspiring A-level pupils.
Ysgol Bryn Elian student Sophie Kirkham has been awarded a coveted place at the UNIQ Summer School.
Sophie, who has 10 A* GCSEs, was one of thousands who applied for the week-long course which gives a taste of student life and education workshops.
Sophie, of Rhos-on-Sea, is planning to apply to study English at Oxford next year.
The university took into account GCSE achievement, predicted A-level grades and also the quality of the personal statement written by Sophie in support of her application.
Sophie said: “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to find out what it would be like to study at a university like Oxford.”
