Sport Relief event at Colwyn Bay

SPORT Relief is coming to Colwyn Bay next month and is challenging fitness freaks of all shapes and abilities to get involved.

Conwy’s sporting team is organising the event in a bid to encourage everyone – from those taking their first steps to disciplined athletes – to take part in a one, three or six mile run.

The event will take part at Eirias Park on Sunday, March 21 as part of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief event, which is raising funds as part of Comic Relief to help poor and disadvantaged people at home and abroad.

Nia Williams is one of Conwy’s active and creative lifestyles team and challenges fundraisers to get involved.

“The Sport Relief Mile in Colwyn Bay is your time to shine,” she said.

“The event is open to everyone, from tiny tots with their mums, dads and grandparents, to super sprinters up against the clock. There’s something for everyone on the day, whether you do one, three or six miles.

“Best of all, the money you raise by getting sponsored will be used to transform lives forever. So rise to the challenge, get fit and raise some money for a good cause!”

The Colwyn Bay Mile starts at 11am on the athletics track and incorporates a scenic one mile circuit around Eirias Park, or around the track for anyone with prams or mobility problems.

There will also be family activities at the leisure centre including taster sessions for many of the activities Conwy leisure centres have to offer.
