Defective tyre played part in crash that killed three in North Wales

THREE people died after a two car collision involving a car with a defective tyre.

Driver Gwyn Watkins and his passenger Andrew McDavid, both 18, were in a Citroen Saxo when Watkins lost control on a wet road and 'fishtailed' into Clifford Kirkman, 85, who was driving a Rover on the A547 Abergele Road, Old Colwyn, last November 13

Deputy Coronor for North Wales central John Gittins recorded a verdict of accidental death on all three men.

Stephen Kirkman, son of mr Kirkman a retired Customs and Excise officer, said : "This accident should not have happned and it perhaps was avoidable. My father was in the wrong place at the worng time."
