Peulwys hammer head
A YOUNG man was taken to hospital needing stitches after being clubbed on the head with a hammer after an incident on the Peulwys estate in Llysfaen.
Police were called to a disturbance at Berth-y-Glyd at 8.25pm last Thursday when an 18-year-old man appeared at a resident’s door drenched in blood.
A 42-year-old father of four reported how a teenager had appeared at his home in distress and bleeding.
“He came to the door asking for help,” he said.
“He had a gash on his head, I was concerned because it looked deep. So I walked him to his grandmother’s house.
“He seemed in shock. It could have been critical.”
An 18-year-old man remains on police bail pending further inquiries.”
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said an investigation was ongoing.
Residents on the estate claim problems with drinking and anti-social behaviour were not uncommon on the estate as bored youngsters indulged in all day drinking sessions. One resident on Berth-y-Glyd said there had been “rioting on the streets” last summer while another said a crowd of children had watched the latest as if it was a “carnival”.
However, Insp Essi Ahari of North Wales Police claimed the estate had improved.
“The incident of assault last week was dealt with promptly,” he said.
“There are other ongoing incidents involving two individuals who are being dealt with by the police and we are hopeful of positive outcomes.
“There are no major drinking problems on the estate according to our records – if there are they have not been highlighted to us and I urge residents to report these and approach their local police officers.
“We proactively deal with reported incidents. and work closely with housing associations.”
