Rhos-on-Sea stylists strip for calendar

A NAUGHTY but nice calendar has been produced by a Rhos-on-Sea hairstylist to raise money to help cancer victims after his mum died of the disease.

Mark Ecclestone, 41, who owns Mark One hair salon in Everard Road, said his family’s experiences of cancer, coupled with those of some of his clients, inspired him to hit on the fun fundraising idea.

“My mum was one of seven siblings who died of cancer, and other close family members have also been affected by it, as have some of my clients, so that’s why I wanted to do something to help others facing it or who might have to face it in the future,” he explained.

Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be split between St David’s Hospice in Llandudno and the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.

“I paid all the costs of printing the calendar so everything we take in sales will go directly to the charities,” he said.

“They are very tasteful and intended to be a bit of fun to give people’s spirits a lift. My cousin Victoria Carr, who is a good photographer, came over from Germany to take them, and the whole thing was produced within seven weeks of me having the idea,” he added.

Mark is asking for a minimum donation of £6 for each calendar and has sold 150 already. They can be obtained from Mark One or by phoning 01492 545127.
