Colwyn Bay’s super Santa is just top of the tree!

ACCORDING to an enchanted grandmother and her three-year-old grandson, Father Christmas lives in Colwyn Bay!

Last week Theresa Waterhouse of Llanddulas took her grandchildren to meet Colwyn Bay’s Father Christmas, and the whole family described it as one of their favourite festive experiences ever.

She contacted the Weekly News to tell us why. The 62-year-old said: “This gentleman is Father Christmas, he has the half-moon glasses, a red velvet outfit with sheepskin cuffs, big black boots and the best Santa beard I’ve ever seen.

“It wasn’t just the way he looked, it was the way he was with the children. He spoke very nicely and wasn’t pushy in any way. He spoke to them very gently and told them stories about the reindeer and showed photographs of them telling them who was who.

“He even knew my grandchildren’s names as the two elves at the grotto, Holly and Mistletoe, had quietly asked their names before they went in.”

Theresa added: “It was absolutely magical and the nicest Christmas experience I’ve ever had. Even the grotto was perfect with his little stove and the ice rink looked lovely.”

Theresa’s son Adam, who lives near Preston, was also delighted by his family’s meeting with Santa: “When I went home I told my wife it was one of the loveliest Christmas moments the kids and I had ever experienced. I think I enjoyed it as much as Harmony, who’s four, and Siseley, who is 16 months.

“It made up for the disappointment we’d experienced the day before when we went to see Santa at another venue elsewhere in the county. He was a disgrace as he kept everyone waiting for an hour, then turned up with a hopeless outfit and cotton wool all over his face.

“My daughter guessed he couldn’t have been the real Santa, so I had to explain to her that Father Christmas can’t be everywhere at once.

“But the Colwyn Bay Father Christmas is like something out of the movies and I hope he’s there next year as I’d be willing to bring the children over from Preston to meet him.”

Father Christmas was unavailable for comment, but his elf receptionist said: “Mr Claus is very busy at this time of year, but is grateful for all the lovely comments people have made about him and his work!”
