EVEN after being granted Fairtrade status, Abergele’s pledge for fairness continues to gain support.
The town’s new mayor, Malcolm Medlicott, has shown enthusiasm for the project. In order to keep its title, Abergele will have to show further developments have happened during 2010 as a Fairtrade mark must be renewed after the first year.
Rod Brocklehurst of the steering committee said: “Cllr Medlicott has pledged his support and new chairman of the committee Kathy Woodward is throwing herself enthusiastically into the task. All seems set to make even more progress in encouraging local businesses to stock or serve Fairtrade products.”
