DESPITE being thousands of miles apart a Llangernyw family is doing its bit to give troops on the front line a boost.
RAF Squadron Leader Theodore Bradley is stationed at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan.
His mum Krystyna often sends him parcels which he then distributes to soldiers in the Green Zone.
She also sends aid to servicemen and women recovering from injuries sustained on the frontline.
“The soldiers in the Green Zone don’t have the access to the things troops do in Camp Bastion,” says Krystyna.
“My son told me there are parcels there with no specific recipient just being left.
“So now I send the parcels to Theo and he can than give them out.
“They like mints and chewing gum the best – you can’t send chocolate because it melts in the heat. When he writes he asks for us to keep sending as they go down very well.”
Theodore is 38 and has served for 20 years. He recently described the number of casualties to his mother – in one day in April, 14 troops received amputations.
Theodore added that receiving parcels can be a huge boost.
Mrs Bradley has also received numerous personal correspondence from the Joint Medical Command, thanking her for her generosity.
On receiving a parcel at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, a letter from Major Ian Cheesman said: “It is a lovely gesture and will make a considerable difference to military personnel wounded in action and their families.
“It is a huge boost to know there is such wonderful support out there.”
Psychic medium Krystyna also holds fundraising events, the proceeds of which go to soldiers serving or wounded.
A recent psychic dinner at the Marlborough Hotel raised £600. Following the success of the first, she is now planning a second event on October 24 at 7.30.
She also hosts meditation groups every other Monday in Llangernyw. Every £3 entrance fee goes to the troops.
“We urge people to keep on giving, this help is a major boost to troops,” she said.
