Police still searching for dangerous drugs in Abergele

POLICE are still searching for a set of highly dangerous medical supplies which went missing in Abergele more than a week ago.

Officers confirmed yesterday that three boxes containing ampules of diamorphine, a powerful painkiller, had not been found following their disappearance between Dundonald Avenue and Water Street on Christmas Eve.

“As with all prescription medicines it is important they are not used by anyone other than the person they are prescribed for,” said a spokesperson for Boots, the company which owns Alliance Pharmacy. “We urge people to be vigilant and support the police in their appeal.”

The three boxes contained 12 100mg samples of the drug, which were wrapped in a bag from the Alliance Pharmacy chemist on Water Street. Police say they do not know whether the medicine has been stolen or lost.

Diamorphine, the chemical name for heroin, is legally available throughout the UK as a controlled drug, but police have warned that the drugs could have extremely dangerous consequences if consumed.

Officers are urging anyone who finds any of the medical supplies not to consume them in any way but to return them to their nearest police station. If you believe you may have more information contact them on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh) and 0845 607 1002 (English).
