POLICE are still appealing for information after an attack in Abergele in the early hours of Saturday in which two men were seriously assaulted.
Officers were called to the town’s Bee Hotel on Market Street after an incident erupted just after midnight which left one man needing hospital treatment.
“This incident was regrettable and we will not tolerate that sort of behaviour from any of our customers, now or in the future. Both parties involved were quickly ejected from our premises and the police were called,” said pub tenant Neil Cooper. “We work actively with the relevant authorities and deal with any troublemakers very quickly. We want to make sure our customers enjoy as safe and enjoyable a night with us as possible.”
North Wales Police say there were two separate incidents, the first of which took place inside the hotel premises before the men involved were ejected. The violence then spilled out onto Groes Lwyd, where a further assault occurred. Two men were arrested following the incident and have been released on bail pending further enquiries. It is reported that a man was also stabbed during the attack, and is now being treated at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan with non-life threatening injuries.
Gele county councillor Tim Rowlands said he had been approached by several residents worried about the incident and are organising a petition against violent crime in the town.
“Abergele is a good place but there is concern that this incident spilled out onto the streets, which brings back memories of a stabbing we had here two years ago. I really feel for the residents who have to have this happen on their own street, especially as a lot of them are now very anxious and don’t want to go out at night any more. It’s sad when we thought we had eradicated this problem completely," he said.
