Welsh Mountain Zoo Hallowe’en

VISITORS to Colwyn Bay’s Welsh Mountain Zoo are invited to take part in a spooky pumpkin carving competition.

The Hallowe’en competition takes place tomorrow (Friday) where visitors will have the chance to win a family ticket to see the Christmas pantomime Aladdin at Venue Cymru.

There is also a chance to win a 12 month adoption and cuddly Hallowe’en snake. Zookeepers are hoping to raise the number of pumpkins at this year’s event and are encouraging visitors to be adventurous with their carvings.

The competition will be judged on the day with winners being announced at 3.45pm at the Trading Post Gift Shop.

The zoo’s education officer Sue Coleman is looking forward to the competition, part of a week long programme of creepy crawlies entitled Shriek Week.

“Although animals such as spiders and snakes are commonly associated with Hallowe’en, it is important to remember that they are remarkable creatures and we can learn so much about them,” she said.

“I will also be explaining some fascinating facts about these creatures in my animal sessions during the week.”

Children dressed in a spooky costume will be given free admission up to Hallowe’en when accompanied with a full paying adult.
