Mochdre woman Snowdon walk

THE wife of an American man fighting a brain tumour will hike up Wales’ highest peak to help pay for his life-saving treatment.

Jenny Walker will climb Snowdon to help fund prescriptions for her husband Nicholas “Hunter” Davis, who has a rare form of cancer.

Jenny, 25, of Conway Road, Mochdre married Hunter last year when she returned to Oregon, Portland where she met him.

Hunter was then struck down with a brain tumour in September this year and a complicated visa issue has seen Jenny unable to stay at his bedside.

But whilst waiting to get clearance from American immigration, Jenny is now hiking over 3,500ft to help pay for Hunter’s medical costs.

“I am still here in the UK and now working on getting an immigrant visa to be with my critically ill husband,” she said.

“Hunter is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy for his cancer and he is thankfully doing well.

“But recently he has been having trouble affording his prescriptions so myself, my sister Hazel and my brother-in-law Jason are going to hike up Snowdon on November 5 to try and raise funds to help him.”

The walk follows Jenny appearing on American TV last month and a campaign by family and friends on both sides of the Atlantic to reunite the pair.

After marrying in the States, Jenny wrongly assumed she had the right to remain in the US beyond the 90 days permitted as part of her waiver visa.

To apply for the document Jenny returned home in March this year, but now can’t get entry into the USA because she outstayed her original visa.

Awaiting the green light from immigration, Jenny says she just wants to be at her husband’s side.

Jenny said: “I think it’s people’s human right to be with their family. Ultimately we want to be in America together, or he would move here.

“His health is the priority. We just want to have children and be normal.

“I don’t want them to change policy, I just want to see my husband. I know there is someone who can help but I don’t know what my rights are.”
