AN auction to sell two properties in Conwy county took place yesterday, but neither were snapped up.
Kinmel Hall in Abergele, a Victorian mansion built in the 1870s, is surrounded by 3,500 acres of open parkland, once a part of the property.
The Hall was built as a lavish 52 bedroom mansion with accommodation for 60 live-in servants and included a special room only used for ironing newspapers.
Lambert Smith Hampton auctioneers were due to put the freehold property under the hammer yesterday, but the lot was deferred due to a lack of legal paperwork being completed in time for the sale. The asking price was £1.5m.
It is hoped the property will go under the hammer again on December 7.
The former railway station building at Penmaenmawr was up for grabs for an asking guide price of £60,000 to £75,000, but failed to sell.
The 150sq m stone property consists of a basement, ground and separate first floor. The first floor consists of a kitchen, lounge and bathroom together with four bedrooms, and the first floor also benefits from coastal and sea views.
A spokesman told the Weekly News it was hoped an agreement could be reached on the building’s future soon.
