Missing dog walked from penrhyn Bay to Betws yn Rhos

A MUCH loved family pet has been reunited with her owners thanks to the Weekly News.

Cocker spaniel Daisy went missing near her home in Penrhyn Bay on Tuesday last week and her distraught owners Gill Jones, her partner Ray, and sons Dave, 22, and Hari, eight, launched a massive search to try to get her back.

“We were all very upset and it was made worse because we own her brother Clayton and he was pining for her,” said Gill.

“We placed an advert in last Thursday’s Weekly News and as a result of that we received information that helped us trace her to a field near Betws-yn-Rhos.”

She said it seemed Daisy had walked all the way from Penrhyn Bay to Betws.

“After Daisy went missing on September 27, and after a few hours of looking around the local area,we had a phone call suggesting she had been seen on Llanelian Road in Old Colwyn.

“However after several hours of searching we understood that it was going to be more difficult than first thought.

“The following day we knew we had to get the news out so we got in touch with a number of people, all of whom were so helpful.

“Within several hours of the Weekly News being delivered to local homes we had a phone call from a gentleman in Llysfaen to say he believed he had seen her.

“With this news we were hot on her trail and rushed up to Llysfaen to check everywhere. Determined to find her we spent several hours in Llysfaen calling Daisy and looking through fields.

“Sadly this search was to no avail, but not to be deterred we took another look at Llysfaen later that night with another sighting made at around 5pm near Betws yn Rhos,” said Gill.

The final breakthrough came on Friday at 6.45am.

Gill continued: “A lady by the name of Ceri was walking her dog by Penmaenrhos School on Llysfaen Road and contacted us to say she’d seen Daisy and gave fantastic information to assist our cause.”

Gill and Ray found Daisy in a fenced off area of a field. She was thin but otherwise fit and well after her ordeal.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to all our friends and family for their help, support and kind words through this troubling time,” added Gill.
