Coleg Llandrillo 3G pitch best in Wales

A RHOS-ON-SEA college’s state-of-the-art artificial sports pitch has been declared the best of its kind in Wales.

Praise also comes from the Premier League in the shape of Manchester United and Everton who are booking the training facility for their youth squads.

The pitch has already been used by United’s young squad whilst Everton are in discussions to establish links for training.

The artificial pitch was officially dubbed the best in the country when delegates from the Football Association of Wales visited the £750,000 facility.

David Webb, head of sport at Coleg Llandrillo, said: “3G football surfaces look like natural grass with similar playing characteristics: it’s non-abrasive and can be used with moulded or studded boots.”

Ex-Man United star Gordon Hill, the owner of a youth soccer club in Texas, has also shown interest in starting a football academy at the college, while Colwyn Bay FC used the pitch this summer for its football schools for youngsters.
