All ages come together for Abergele planting

Creating new woodland

VOLUNTEERS of all ages have been doing their bit to spruce up Abergele.

The Woodland Trust presented 105 saplings to the housing association to create a new wooded area beside the sheltered housing scheme at Pentre Mawr.

Twenty-two children from St George Primary School and Ysgolion Sant Elfod, Glan Gele and Glan Morfa helped pot-up the seedlings and presented them to the county’s parks team to look after until they are big enough to be sited in their final locations.

The parks team also donated a banana tree to each of the four schools who took part to take back with them.

Alison Pring, warden at the Pentre Mawr housing scheme, thanked all who had helped out at the event: “All of the children were superb and it was brilliant to be part of something that will be here for future generations.”
