QUARRY workers have sponsored a science project at a school for children with special needs.
Staff at Penrhyn Quarry near Bangor have given £500 towards buying items of equipment not covered by the school’s budget.
Jon Steer, science teacher at Ysgol y Gogarth in Llandudno, explained: “For example, we have bought model shuttles and satellites to enrich the topic on space that pupils are currently studying.
“Resources such as these are particularly significant to pupils in Ysgol y Gogarth as they provide a more effective sensory input to enhance the concepts pupils are experiencing.”
Some of the pupils recently visited the quarry.
“ It is fantastic to see a local company and individual staff taking such an interest in helping to improve learning for our youngsters,” said Mr Steer.
