Llandudno Junction Youth Club and pensioners enjoy a game of bingo together

YOUNG people from Llandudno Junction treated a group of pensioners from their community to lunch and bingo last week.

Youth Work Week brought the community together in Llandudno Junction, with people from Llandudno Junction Youth Club organising a lunch for pensioners in the area.

Police officers, councillors and volunteers also helped.

The memorial hall was decorated by the youngsters and they helped make the refreshments.

Thomas Lyness, Llandudno Junction youth leader, said: “We also had a lot of help from businesses and donations from local people for the bingo prizes.

“It was excellent to see the event bring a smile to the faces of the organisers and the lucky people who won the prizes.”

He added: “The youth service and the police would like to say a big thank you to the many people who helped.”

Cllr Mike Priestley commented: “We should be proud of these young people, who really looked after and respected their elders. I left the event proud to be living in Junction with these fantastic young people.

“I would most certainly support this as an annual event and can say so on behalf of our senior residents after talking to them and listening to the very positive feedback and I would also like to thank all our local businesses for their generous donations, and let’s not forget Heidi and Pete our police community beat officers.”

Inspector Ian Verburg added: “Thanks to all , this is great news and we will certainly support it again next year.”

The youngsters were given a free ticket to Cineworld in Llandudno Junction for all their hard work.
