UP to eight cars were damaged in Dolwyddelan in what is being described as a drunken rampage.
Residents in the sleepy Conwy Valley village, located just outside Betws-y-Coed, woke up on Sunday morning to find their cars damaged with dent marks, tyres let down and wing mirrors broken off.
Former post master David Forster discovered his Ford Mondeo, which was parked on his driveway at Castle Terrace, had a flat tyre, missing dust caps and a broken wing mirror.
“My Mondeo was one of at least eight cars in the village which were damaged on Saturday night,” he explained.
“I noticed other vehicles around the village had similar damage.
“It looks as if someone has kicked the wing mirror off, as there are foot marks on the car. Other people have said their cars have also been kicked.
“Its a horrible, irresponsible thing to do. They kicked my daughter’s car too. It’s as if they walked through the village late at night on some drunken rampage and attacked almost every car they came across.
“I noticed last week that the fuel filler cap on my car was open but I thought nothing of it.
“I reported this latest incident to the police straight away but I am not sure what they are doing about it. A replacement mirror will cost me £250.”
Another local, Lorri Cassell, was also a victim after she found her Fiat Stello car had been damaged.
“The wing mirror of our family car was hanging off,” she said.
“I discovered the damage on Sunday morning.
“It’s not the end of the world, it can be fixed but it is inconvenient and an unnecessary expense for us.
“I don’t think these people were targeting anyone in particular, they were most probably drunk.
“It looks like the mirror was physically kicked off. North Wales Police forensics came round to take finger prints and evidence so we’ll just have to wait and see if anyone is caught.”
Local Spar Shop owner Mike Skerrit confirmed that on the same night of the car damage he had items from outside his village shop stolen.
“An advertising board and picnic table umbrella were taken from the shop on Saturday night, which I found the next day close to were the cars were damaged,” he confirmed.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said the matter was under investigation.
