Young Tomos releases debut CD

A YOUNG artist is carving his way to success with the release of his debut CD.

Award winning Tomos Wyn from Llanrwst released his debut CD Dacw’r Drws recently.

Tomos, 17, who attends Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, won the Song for Wales competition this year with Bws i'r Lleuad, a song by Llanrwst singer Alun Tan Lan.

Since then Tomos has been busy building his career as a performer and actor.

He recently started filming popular S4C show Rownd a Rownd.

He is also an active member of two choirs, singing with Ysgol Glanaethwy and Aelwyd Bro Cernyw choirs.

After winning the Song for Wales competition, the youngster took on the challenge of singing solo at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.

“I normally sing with a choir by my side, so going solo was a bit of a challenge.” said Tomos.

“The buzz was amazing and the audience was great. A bus of supporters came from Llanddoged so we had a lot of support.”

Since that performance, Welsh record label Sain offered Tomos a record deal.

The result was a four track EP, with songs composed by former Song for Wales winners Elfed Morris and Lowri Watkyn.

Since then, Tomos and his seven-man band have taken their CD to Ireland to perform at the Pan Celtic Festival, where they came second in the contemporary song contest.
