A470 voted top road for driving holiday

THE A470 between Cardiff and Llandudno has topped a list of UK motorists favourite drives.

Research by motoring and leisure association CSMA of 3,000 drivers showed most planned to take a UK driving holiday this summer as well as weekend breaks.

The top scenic roads and destinations for motorists were the M6 motorway through the Lake District; the coastal drive in Cornwall; Southwards to Ullswater and the mountainous A470 taking in the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia national park.

CSMA chief Mark Rothery said: “This research coupled with feedback from club members confirms that British drivers are still in love with our beautiful countryside.

“And as we live on a relatively small island most of us can get to stunning scenery within an hour or two.”
