Rural post office could be reopened

THE Post Office is to conduct a six week public consultation on proposals to reopen a service in Pentrefoelas.

The consultation will look into reopening services in the Conwy Valley village in new premises at Yr Hen Goetiws, approximately 100 yards from its former location.

Sue Hodgins, field change advisor, said: “We want our customers to understand why we are considering this move, what facilities the new service will offer and how to contact us with their views.

“In preparing our plan, we have considered information specific to the local area, including access to public transport, the route and access to the new location, local population figures and other facilities available in the area.”

The previous service in the village closed on a temporary basis in January, and the former premises are no longer available for use.

Ms Hodgins added: “Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term so I am delighted that we would like to establish a new hosted service from the local craft shop.

“The new service, which we would like to restore to our customers as soon as possible, will be available on Monday and Friday between 9am-11.30am. I hope customers will support our sub-postmaster when the service is reinstated.”

Customers would benefit from a brand new serving counter and off road parking.

People are invited to contact Ms Hodgins in writing, with any comments and feedback on the proposals via the National Consultation Team at: Sue Hodgins, Field Change Advisor, Post Office Limited, c/o National Consultation Team, PO Box 2060, Watford, WD18 8ZW or by e-mail: consultation@postoffice.co.uk

The final date for receipt of enquiries and responses is April 29.
