A NEW bike shed at Ysgol Pant y Rhedyn, in Llanfairfechan, has been built to encourage fitness.
Sustainable transport charity Sustrans has been working with the school since September to help children overcome the barriers that prevent them from cycling to school.
Recent research from the department for biological sciences at Essex University has shown that the fittest children are those that cycle to school.
Sustrans officer Gwen Thomas said: “The new bike shed is really important in getting children to cycle to school.
“It will provide a safe place for children to secure their bikes whilst they are in lessons.
“It will also help to give parents peace of mind too, encouraging both children and parents to choose two wheels, instead of four for the journey to school.”
