Man bailed after incident on A55 in Colwyn Bay

A 40-YEAR-OLD man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on bail.

The man was initially arrested for driving offences after his car smashed into a crash barrier on the A55 at Colwyn Bay early last Wednesday morning.

But later police revealed the man, who has not been named but is believed to be local to the Colwyn Bay area, was being questioned on suspicion of the more serious charge.

A police spokeswoman said the man had been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The spokeswoman added: “Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, which occurred on the eastbound carriageway at junction 21 at 2.35am.”

The man had been driving a dark green Audi A4. A 25-year-old woman passenger was injured in the crash. She was taken for treatment at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan but later discharged.
