FRIENDS raised over £6,500 from climb up Mount Kilimanjaro to help local charities.
Llanrwst’s Sel Berry, 60, who works at Betws-y-Coed post office, celebrated his milestone birthday at the top of Kilimanjaro last year, which at 19,340ft is the highest mountain in Africa.
As a result of the nine day trek Sel and his seven friends raised a total of £6,699, giving each of the three charities Clic Sargent, Ty Gobaith and Llanrwst Sports Association £2,233.
Llanrwst resident Michaela Lemalle received the money on behalf of Clic Sargent, Wenna Owen represented Ty Gobaith and Jimmy Sweeney collected for Llanrwst SA.
