Fun day success
TWO family fun days were held recently thanks to part funding by Cymorth and the Lottery.
One of the well-attended fun days held in Llanrwst Leisure Centre attracted 300 parents and children.
Activities included fire juggling, balloon modelling, climbing, beat boxing, arts and crafts, bird cake making, a bouncy castle plus dance mats, storytelling, disco dancing and soft play.
The fun days – the other held at Peulwys’ Tan y Marian Community Centre and school – were held during the recent half term holidays and organised by the Way of Life team and North West Wales Play Forum.
Martin Fearnley, community engagement officer for Conwy’s Way of Life team, works with children under five and their families in Surestart areas such as Llanrwst, and Flying Start areas like Colwyn Bay, promoting healthy lifestyles.
Kelly Bee, regional play development officer for North West Wales Play Forum, said: “Our aim was to target families from nought to 90 years to take part in a variety of activities which encourage family interaction and fun.
“We were both blown away by the response from families in each area, who are already asking about future events and activities,” she said.
“I’d like to thank host venues and partner agencies who contributed to making both days a wonderful success, but more importantly the families in each area for attending. I look forward to other events and activities.”
Agencies and community residents including Clybiau Plant Cymru, Genesis, Flying Start, RSPB, Llanrwst Leisure Centre, Surestart and NCMA also supported the event.
