A SWAN experienced time behind bars after becoming trapped behind a water grid in a culvert at Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno.
The male swan was relieved to receive his get out of jail free card when the RSPCA and environment agency came to the rescue.
It’s thought the large bird could have been stranded for a couple of days, while patiently waiting at the other side of the bars was his female mate.
On Sunday, RSPCA inspector Chris Dunbar, animal welfare officer Mark Roberts and Llyr Jones from the environment agency went to the culvert off Llandudno Road and reunited the birds after removing a bar from the grid.
“All the bird needed was a helping hand and we were there to provide it. The bird had managed to get trapped in an awkward place and would never have freed itself. Thankfully the swan was uninjured so was released back to freedom after a couple of days behind bars,” said Mr Dunbar.
