Police warn over bogus callers in Denbighshire and Conwy

ELDERLY people have been warned to be on their guard against bogus callers after four burglaries on the same day.

The raids happened in Conwy and Denbighshire on February 24 and in two of them the callers claimed to be from the water board.

At around 7.15pm that day two men went into the home of an elderly lady on Penrhos Avenue, Llandudno Junction and stole a quantity of cash.

Another incident saw two offenders force entry into a house in Lon Llewelyn in Denbigh.

Nothing appears to have been stolen during the raid.

Inspector Martin Davies said: “With the better weather approaching we are urging people to be extra vigilant and to be mindful of bogus officials and rogue traders.”

Llandudno Junction councillor Meirion Hughes was shocked at the incident.

“I find it a shame that people target the elderly and the vulnerable. It shows we should all be alert about crimes like this.”

Anyone who may have seen people acting suspiciously in the Denbigh and Llandudno Junction areas or who may have been visited by bogus officials is asked to contact Central CID in St. Asaph on 101 if in Wales, 0845 607 1000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
