Car hit by rock
A DRIVER had a lucky escape after yobs threw a rock at cars passing under a bridge over the A55.
The 32-year-old man was travelling along the eastbound carriageway at around 5.20pm last Tuesday when the stone was dropped from Rainbow Bridge – a notorious hotspot for such incidents, near Old Colwyn – onto the windscreen of his Vauxhall Corsa.
Nobody was injured, though the driver said he was shocked by the incident.
It was reported last February how a family were fortunate to be alive after a similar attack.
Steve and Michelle Owen from Colwyn Bay were driving under the bridge with twins Kaya and Teri, 12, and youngest daughter Kelly, five, when a large stone hit their car.
Calls have been made for the landmark bridge to be fitted with CCTV.
North Wales Police are investigating the incident.
Meat cleaver robbery
A 33-year-old man accused of robbing the Premier newsagents’ and convenience store at Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno, of £40 when armed with a meat cleaver last week admitted his guilt.
Michael Caine, of Penyffordd Terrace in Penrhynside, was remanded in custody until March 17 for a pre-sentence report at Caernarfon crown court.
