Nebuliser funding
PATIENTS at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd can breathe a little easier thanks to the generosity of a local organisation.
Kinmel Bay Breathe Easy Group has raised money to buy four travel lung nebulisers.
These allow patients with lung problems to take their medicine with them when they travel. A nebuliser is a machine that turns medicine into a mist which patients then inhale.
The Breathe Easy Group is one of a network of organisations across Britain.
Part of the British Lung Foundation (BLF), it supports people affected by lung disease through the individual challenges they face.
Laura Talbot, North Wales development officer for BLF, commended the group’s fantastic achievement.
“The nebulisers will make a real difference to people with lung conditions, who may not otherwise have been able to travel,” she said.
One in five people in the country are affected by lung disease.
Ms Talbot added that groups such as the one in Kinmel Bay are vital to the wellbeing of many throughout Wales: “None of this would be possible without the money raised by groups like Kinmel Bay, so I want to say thank you to them for their wonderful work, helping others to breathe more easily.”
Christine Salusbury of Kinmel Bay Breathe Easy group said: “We have very good links with the NHS respiratory team in the area.”
The group meets at Kinmel Bay Church, St Asaph Avenue, between 2pm-4pm on the first Tuesday of every month.
