Llandudno Junction Football Club lose to TNS 6-0.

OVER 600 people turned up to support Llandudno Junction Football Club’s bid to make history last weekend.

The club played against The New Saints (TNS), one of the best teams in Wales.

The Oswestry-based club travelled to the Flyover for the Welsh Cup fourth round on Saturday.

But it wasn’t to be Junction’s day as the team lost 6-0 to TNS.

However, playing TNS was a dream come true for the Junction players as TNS plays in the Welsh Premier.

Junction FC manager Shane Cartwright was proud of his team on Saturday.

“First of all I’d like to thank the community for getting behind us, the support was tremendous and I really hope a lot of these people will continue to support the club,” he said.

“TNS treated us with respect but on the day they really shone and were far superior.

“It was a difficult game as TNS adapted to the conditions at the Flyover quicker than expected.

“We did have a few chances but unfortunately didn’t capitalise on them.

“TNS’s fitness levels were much better than our players’, but then they have excellent facilities and train every day.”

Shane added: “At the end of the day I’m very proud of my players as they never gave up and we are not disheartened by the score.

“We can take a lot of positives from this and only wish we could play a team like TNS all the time.

“I had very tired players but they all enjoyed the experience of playing a higher level team.

“It was also great to speak to the TNS manager who praised the organisation and the team.”

Llandudno Junction councillor Mike Priestley was one of those to support the club: “It was great to see such an excellent crowd. There was a great atmosphere and many went to the Crosville Club afterwards, like in the old days.”

Junction FC is going from strength to strength. Money has been spent to upgrade the showers, and provide better parking facilities at the ground.

The next project is to develop a new standing area for 50 spectators and build new dugouts for the manager and reserves.
