PEOPLE in the Conwy Valley are gearing up for this year’s Tal-y-Bont and Llanbedr gala day.
The annual joint village gala takes place this Saturday, and organisers are promising it will be completely different from last year’s event.
Visitors can enjoy a new competition – Tal -y-Bont’s Got Talent!
So far there are eight entries who will all perform on the day. The acts range include a folk singer, acoustic guitar solo, a poem recital, dance performances and singing.
First prize for the lucky winner of the talent competition is £50.
“We are very excited about this new competition as we feel it will be a real community event,” said organiser Sue O’Sullivan.
“All of the local schoolchildren have been spending their break times practising routines for the event.
“We also have an RAF fly-past which will be a great attraction.”
In the show ring organisers have planned fancy dress for dogs, a tug of war competition, plus the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, Global Rescue and numerous stalls, including tombola, hook-a-duck, bottle stall and refreshments including a beer tent for the first time.
“We are hoping people will get involved and have a great time,” added Sue.
“We also have several art and craft competitions which will be housed in the memorial hall – decorated fairy cakes, miniature gardens, animals made from vegetables, and a photographic competition.”
Any money raised on the day is shared between local charities including Ty Gobaith, local schools, the WI and committees to maintain the playing field and provide a fireworks display.
