A BUSINESS brain has joined forces with a Colwyn Bay firm to bring a music festival to the east of the county next year.
Following plans revealed in the Weekly News earlier this month, Best of Colwyn Bay boss David Chesters said on Tuesday he had teamed up events organisers Menu UK, based on Abergele Road, to create a show held at venues throughout Abergele, Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea, which has been earmarked for next April.
“These guys are very well established in the festivals and events field, so this isn’t a stab in the dark, and I think it’s brilliant that they’ve come on board and got involved,” he said.
“There’s a lot of work still to go into this event but I’m confident it will be held next year if we can all work together to hold it. When you see the likes of the acts on Britain’s Got Talent, you realise that there’s a lot of culture already out there, and it would be great to showcase it.”
Menu UK has hosted a number of events in the region, including the Kidstock dance music festival in Anglesey, and Managing Director Daniel Williams said he was keen to get involved after reading about plans for the event in the Weekly News.
“We’re looking at making the event into one that very much has a family feel to it, the sort of thing you would want to take your children along to, and which could in future rival the Llandudno Extravaganza as a regional tourist attraction,” he said.
“We work with lots of the bigger festivals, such as Creamfields and have the experience in putting on and marketing events which should make this one to bring tourism back into this part of North Wales. It’s going to have a very professional feel to it.”
Best of Colwyn Bay has advertised the event on its website as a jazz and soul festival to be held throughout the towns covered by its website, and has provisionally planned it for April 8-12 next year.
